Open House for interested new students will be held on February 21, 2013 at 6:30 pm in the Shades Valley High School Theatre.  Registration is available for incoming 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. The application deadline for the 2013-2014 school year is February 28, 2013.

 Criteria for Selection

Students interested in attending JCIB must apply.  The application process is open to all interested students.  Students are selected by their grades, test scores on standardized tests, and essay that they must hand-write. Students who are not zoned for a Jefferson County District School will be required to pay tuition to attend and must acquire a release from their school system.

 JCIB Graduates - Where are they now?
We are very proud of all the contributions and achievements our graduates are making.  Here are a few we have heard about recently.....
 
Kenneth Gray - 2012 Goldwater Fellow at UAB -graduated from JCIB in 2010.
 
Shewtak Patel - 2011 MacArthur Foundation Fellow - University of Washington Computer Science and Engineering - for his easy to deploy sensing technologies.
 
Brett Patrick -Graduated from JCIB in 2007. He graduated magna cum laude with University Honors from UAB and will begin medical school this year.
 
Linh Chuc Tran - graduated summa cum laude from UAB and will begin Dentistry school this year.
 
Shewta Patel - a 2010 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship winner for her research on the hTERT GCCG, one of the main components in green tea, on the various types of breast cancer. She will begin medical school in July 2011.
