The High Schools That Work team visited SVHS and SVTA on April 22-24. SVHS and SVTA each were awarded a $10,000 grant from the organization. SV won a High Schools That Work Grant and SVTA won a Career Tech Centers That Work Grant.
The Urban Sites Network brought over 30 visitors from all over the country on April 26 to observe the great things happening with reading and writing in our English Language Arts Department.
The library has been awarded a $2,500.00 grant from the Irondale Education and Youth Fund to purchase an eReader charging cart, protective covers, and anti-glare screen kits for the 32 Nook eReaders provided to SVHS/JCIB/SVTA by the Jefferson County Board of Education this year.
A Mountie thank you goes to Ken Lass and the Channel 42 "One Class at Time" Program for awarding the library $1,000.00 to purchase a wireless printer. The JCIB Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta is now offering tutoring for all math classes on Wednesday mornings from 7:15-7:45 in Mrs. Sahawneh's classroom. (223IB). All SVHS and JCIB students are welcome to attend.
